Use Essential Oils Safely

You've just received your Essential Oils and an aromatic diffuser in your very first shipment. Well ... now what? How exactly do you use them? Is one way better than another? How do you Use Essential Oils Safely? All of these are extremely important questions and should be discussed before jumping into your Essential Oils. I will explain the different ways to Use Essential Oils Safely and a few examples.

First of all, typically essential oils are used in three different ways; Aromatically, Topically, and Internally. Traditionally, the Essential Oil application methods have been used exclusively throughout time. And these specific uses continue to develop as Essential Oils are more widely understood, more consistently searched for and are a part of every day living. In fact, this makes the Use of Essential Oils Safely a much bigger area of conversations that needs to take place more often.

Now let's jump right in! The Aromatic use of Essential Oils may be the most familiar and is one of my favorites. Just think of a time where a smell triggers a memory. For example, your favorite flowers or your favorite meal or the smell of rain on the horizon. Have you ever been into a Spa and taken a deep breathe of Lavender or Eucalyptus or a massage blend?

That's It! You got it! You're sense of smell is taking hold.

Diffusers are the most popular and most commonly used for Aromatic uses of Essential Oils. Diffusers create a fine Aromatic mist and allows you to enjoy the benefits of Essential Oils in any environment. There are a wide variety of Diffuser to meet all of your needs. Similarly, different size Diffusers use different quantities of Essential Oil to water ratios. 

Even with all of that being said, your sense of smell when using an Aromatic Diffuser with your most favorite Essential Oils is quite Powerful. Your sense of smell triggers emotional, mental and psychological responses. Which means when you Use Essential Oils Safely this can lead to positive emotions, behavior, and memory in your day to day living.

Some Essential Oils can create a sense of Uplifting or Invigorating Feelings and Mood. For example, adding Bergamont, Spearmint, the Citrus Bliss to your Diffuser are some of my favorites. No matter if I'm feeling just under the weather or have a lot on my mind, these Essential Oils snap me right out of my funkiness. And while other Essential Oils create senses that are more Calming, Restful and Relaxing. For example, adding Lavender, Cedarwood and Frankincense to your Diffuser is an excellent choice. Whether you choose to use them together or separately or two out of three ... relaxation will ensure.

Diffusion is my favorite way to use Essential Oils Aromatically

On a side note ... keep in mind that everyone has different "Smell Senses" for Essential Oils. Similarly to different kinds of "perfumes". For example, an Essential Oil that I think smells great and I enjoy Tremendously just may not work well with someone else. This can go both ways as well. Some people also have very "Sensitive Senses" of smell while others do not. This means that "Sensitive Noses" need Less Drops of Essential Oils to notice the scent or be effective. While "Not so Sensitive Noses" need More Drops of Essential Oils

On an additional side note ... if there is an Essential Oil that you absolutely love the benefits of but you just can't stand the smell, you're in luck. Most Essential Oils work just as well and sometime better when you Apply them to the Vitaflex Points of your Feet. This way they are far away from your nose, covered with your socks and you still get the benefit of your favorite Essential Oils.

Did you know that your Feet have the Most Pores Per Square Inch than any other area of the body? Yes they do! So enjoy ALL Essential Oils no matter their smells!

But what if you don't have a Diffuser?

Well, no worries. Here are some additional examples of Using Essential Oils Safely Aromatically:

Place a few drops in the palm of your hand, rub together, cup your nose and mouth, and take deep and even breaths.

  • Apply to a cotton ball and place in the air vents of your vehicle or in your home.

  • Mix Essential Oils in a spray bottle with water and mist over furniture, carpet/rugs, and linens.

  • Add oil to a batch of laundry or to dryer sheets.

  • Use in household cleaners and your home will smell fresh and clean

  • You can wear an essential oil as a cologne or perfume by adding them onto your wrists, neck, behind your ears, chest, sternum, etc.

  • Also, you can wear diffuser necklaces and other jewelry to incorporate Essential Oils into your everyday life.

The Second Most Popular Way to Use Essential Oils is Topically

Using Essential Oils Topically on your skin is an Easy and Effective method because they are easily Absorbed into your Skin. And using Essential Oils in this manner is what turns most people from Casual Oil Users to Devotees. Additionally, using a light massage or a carrier oil will also increase absorption into your skin. Massaging a specific are will increase the blood flow to that area for better absorption. And also adding carrier oil helps moisturize your skin, which in turn, allows for better absorption.

Remember ...

There are many people who have sensitive skin, mostly children and elderly. It is advisable to dilute the potent Essential Oils with a carrier oil such as Fractionated Coconut Oil. Recommendations for dilution are One drop of Essential Oil to Three drops of Carrier Oil.

Also, it is ok to use Essential Oils in lower doses multiple times per day (every 4-6 hour preferred). Rather than using them in higher doses and only One or Two times per day. 

Some examples of Potent Essential Oils and should be diluted but are also highly effective are:

  • Arborvitae

  • Bergamot

  • Cardamom

  • Cinnamon

  • Clove

  • Deep Blue, Rosemary, Wild Orange

  • Frankincense

  • Peppermint

  • Oregano

  • Thyme

Some amazing and beneficial areas of your body to Use your Essential Oils are:

  • Abdomen and over other vital organs

  • Feet (see the Vita Flex foot chart above)

  • Forehead, surrounding ears, and temples

  • Neck along the arteries and back of neck at base of skull

  • Shoulders all the way across and Spine from base of neck to tailbone

Enjoy using your Essential Oils topically on your skin. They have many benefits and you will feel amazing when you use them. If you have any questions, always ask! You can do ALL of these with Essential Oils! This can maximize your Health Benefits by directly ingesting these Essential Oils which quickly and directly enters your blood stream. Also, internal consumption allows for faster effects and results.

Please always remember ...

LESS is MORE when using Essential Oils internally. You can always add another drop when you want or need. ALWAYS use proper doses and strictly follow labeling recommendations. Essential Oils are highly beneficial to your health and when using them properly can greatly increase Physical Health Conditions. Similarly, Health Ailments can be minimized and sometimes completely eliminated. Doesn't that sound great? It sure does to me!

Some other fun, beneficial and interesting ways to use Essential Oils internally:

  • use in cooking or baking to replace fresh or dried herbs and spices

  • add to any beverage for added flavor and benefits

  • take in a veggie capsule

  • drop underneath your tongue

  • consume Doterra supplements

  • enjoy with your meal for flavor or in place of spices and herbs
